Halifax woman wins prize from the AAT

Halifax woman Diane Ackroyd has been awarded a prize by the Association of Accounting Technicians in recognition of her commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The CPD prize is held annually at the Association's AGM. It recognises AAT members who show an outstanding approach and dedication to their continued learning. CPD is designed to encourage members to take control of their own professional development and undertake relevant learning to support their career.

Applicants for the prize have to show the substantial benefits to be gained from taking responsibility for their own CPD and approaching it in an organised, strategic way.

The standard this year, as always, was very high and for the first time two first place winner prizes were awarded. Diane Ackroyd who runs her own accountancy practice in Halifax was one of the well-deserved winners.

Diane has been a member of the AAT since 1993 and is also a licensed member in practice. The judges were impressed with Diane’s constructive and pro-active approach to her CPD and the pride in the achievements she gained from her activities. She undertook learning activities to enable her to set up her own business and CPD has clearly been a huge help in achieving her career objectives. She was awarded a prize of £1000 - half of which must be spent on learning activities of her choice.

Diane said after receiving her prize: ''I feel very proud to have won the prize today. To me, the fact that I have been able to set up my own business as a result of these activities is an honour in itself.''

Commenting on her achievement, Catherine Chamberlain President of the AAT said: ''I am delighted to present Diane with the CPD prize. She is a well deserved winner and I hope other members learn from her approach.''
