Quality Assurance

The high public regard for AAT qualifications is based on confidence in the quality of the standards which the AAT requires, and the consistency with which they are delivered by the AAT's approved centres.

This section contains policies and procedures, and guidance about how the standards for NVQs/SVQs should be adhered to by centres delivering the AAT programmes. You can also find copies of the standards themselves as laid out by the UK's regulatory bodies.

Other Quality Assurance publications

Within the United Kingdom, qualifications are statutorily regulated: by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England, by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) in Scotland, by ACCAC in Wales and CCEA in Northern Ireland.

The way in which the NVQ/SVQ standards are implemented must comply with these regulators' requirements.

NVQ Code of Practice - The regulatory body for NVQs, QCA has specified an NVQ Code of Practice which stipulates how they must be implemented by awarding bodies and training providers.

Internal Verification of NVQs manual - This document was produced after consultation with NVQ Awarding Bodies, and gives guidance on conducting the internal verification process. This is a key quality control process which is independent of the assessor and a requirement.
