Advice to student members
As members of the AAT your students have available a range of support services and information to help them in their course. We have listed these services here so that you, as tutors, lecturers and course coordinators, can advise and inform your students about what their membership of the AAT means and what services are there to help. Most of these areas are discussed in more detail in the student member section of this site, and the list below includes links where available.
- Accounting Technician - a monthly magazine sent to all student members which includes membership information, accountancy news and technical articles, a study zone and feedback on assessments as well as job adverts and a letters page. There is also the online version of the magazine with a searchable archive of technical articles and a job database with listings of the latest accounting technician vacancies. Past papers are also available on the Accounting Technician website.
- Discussion forums - the student member discussion forums were one of the most popular areas of the old AAT site. Lots of helpful advice and support and an ideal way for your students to meet new people, share ideas and swap advice with other AAT members.
- Progression and exemptions - information on becoming a full member of the AAT, progressing to chartered accountancy, or to higher education.
- Funding - information and advice for student members who may need financial help and how to apply for it.
- The AAT branch network - The AAT's network of branches is an excellent way to supplement college learning - as well as getting to know student and full members from further afield. Local branches run regular events which include some specifically for students (e.g. tips on portfolio building and on revision).
- The AAT's Student Services team is available to give advice to student members on all aspects of AAT training and membership. They can be contacted by e-mail on studentservices@aat.org.uk or by telephone on 0845 8630801 or from outside UK on +44 (0)20 7397 3001
