How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in two ways; examinations and practical skills tests.
Exams
These are set and marked by the AAT, and are held twice a year in June and December.
Skills tests and simulations
These tests assess how you apply your technical knowledge to real life (or simulated) situations. If you take the NVQ/SVQ route, you’ll usually compile your real life work tests into a portfolio. If you take the Diploma route you will not need to create a portfolio because all the skills tests are simulations of work place situations.
How will I study?
You can study in the way that suits you best and at your own pace. Options include full time study at college or part time study at college or at home by distance learning.
Most AAT students work full-time and study at college in the evening. This allows them to get ahead and practice their new skills as they progress.
