Orkney man named Vice President of AAT
Neil Price, a partner in Orkney-based Chartered Accountancy firm Orcadia, has been named as the new Vice President of the AAT, the leading professional education and membership body for accounting staff. He will be installed as Vice President at the Association’s AGM in London on Thursday 21 May.
Neil’s year-long tenure will be followed by a further twelve months as the AAT’s 30th President. Both roles are voluntary and he will act as an ambassador, speaking at events – both within the UK and overseas - and promoting the benefits of professional education and training within the accountancy profession.
Neil has been an active member of the AAT’s governing Council since 2000 when he was nominated to the role by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, one of the AAT’s four sponsoring bodies. He was nominated and elected to the post of Vice President by his thirty-three Council peers.
Looking forward to his new role, Neil said: “It’s a fantastic honour to have been recognised in this way. The AAT is one of the most highly respected bodies in the accounting field and makes such a difference to people’s lives. More and more people are looking to gain qualifications to increase their career prospects and the flexible nature of the AAT means that it is open to practically anyone. The courses are proving popular in Orkney and I will be looking to raise the AAT’s profile right across Scotland during my two years in office.”
