About distance learning tuition
Some students find distance learning (studying from home) a more flexible way to train for AAT qualifications. You may also hear distance learning called
- open learning.
- flexible learning.
- home study.
- correspondence courses.
If you choose distance learning, you won’t have to travel to a training provider for classes, and often students can set their own pace for study.
Many AAT approved training providers offer distance learning options, but each will deliver the training differently, so do talk to any providers you’re considering to weigh up the differences and find the method that works best for you.
Although you will be able to study from home, you will need to make arrangements to sit your
Computer based assessments (CBAs)
Computer based assessments (CBAs) are an electronic equivalent to paper based assessments. As part of the AAT Accounting Qualification, you will need to sit CBAs to test your understanding of each learning and assessment area.
If you live far from your distance learning provider, you can sit your CBAs at a venue which accepts external candidates. They will charge assessment fees, and some may charge an additional admin fee as well.
When you’re ready to sit an assessment, contact us and we will give you the details of your CBA venue. Then you can contact them directly to arrange your assessment and pay the appropriate fees.
Skills test assessments
AAT student members completing units on the AAT Accounting Qualification’s NVQ and Diploma pathways will need to sit skills test assessments in a controlled environment.
This may involve
- The assessors visiting you in your work place.
- Sitting a supervised assessment at a training provider.
- Making arrangements to sit a supervised assessment at work.
The training provider you enroll with will advise you of how they would like you to be assessed for the skills tests.
