Tips on finding the right AAT approved training provider for you
We have over 460 approved training providers in the UK and across the world, all meeting AAT standards.
Only training providers specifically approved by AAT can offer AAT qualifications, and we regularly check each provider to ensure that their training quality remains high and meets student needs.
We check that:
- The quality of assessment and verification meets national standards.
- Decisions on competence are consistent across all centres.
- Candidate assessments and verification practices are sampled and monitored.
A training provider might be a college, a private training organisation, or a distance learning (home learning) provider. The chances are you'll know instinctively which provider is for you when you visit it. But here are a few ideas and questions you might want to ask or consider to help you make the right choice.
Questions to ask
- How long has it been operating as a training provider?
- What is the training provider's success rate in AAT exams?
- What are the professional and teaching qualifications of the AAT tutors?
- What do the course fees include? Are books and assessments included, or are they additional costs?
- What arrangements can be made for work placements?
- How flexible are the course structures?
- What is the training provider's approach towards preparation and revision for exams?
- Are you able to see samples of the teaching materials used on the training programme?
- What happens if a lecturer is unavailable? Does the training provider provide replacements?
Points to consider
- Most colleges run evening classes, so make sure travelling won't be a problem.
- Ask to meet the lecturer to ensure you are comfortable with him or her before you start, as a personality clash could cause unnecessary problems later on.
- Tell the training provider about your work experience as this may mean that you don't have to undertake all units if you can already demonstrate your competence in certain areas.
- Likewise, be honest about your numeracy and language skills. There may be refresher courses available to help you improve or refresh your skills.
All training providers are there to help you achieve the qualification and so will be happy to advise on any extra support which may be available.
