“The AAT is a very progressive organisation. I started in 1993 as a senior administration assistant and after giving birth to twin girls in 1996 was able to take a full year off for maternity. I then returned to work full-time and then, after receiving a promotion, decided that I would like to work more flexibly.
I still work a 35 hour week but can now manage my hours to accommodate my family commitments. Some days I might come in at 7.30am and leave at 2pm, and others I may come in later. It’s a great arrangement. It allows me to pick my daughters up from school and spend the rest of the day with them – indulging in their fun activities and just enjoying quality time.
The AAT have been so supportive. I’ve had some great managers who have motivated me, trusted me and given me confidence. As my daughters have got older, I’ve also been able to work at home which has allowed me to play a much greater part in their lives – like attending performances at their school.
I’m so grateful to the AAT for their flexibility and understanding. My daughters are an important priority but so is my work, and this arrangement allows me to remain fully committed to both.”
