Progression to professional AAT membership - benefits for you and your staff

Steven Flather FMAAT FCCA - Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service

Every AAT full member (MAAT) commits to ensuring their long-term effectiveness through continuing professional development (CPD).

This condition of professional AAT membership reflects the rapid pace of change in legislation, technology or working practices – within accountancy and beyond. So you can be sure your staff are up to date in terms of knowledge and skills, giving your company a competitive edge. Also, if your company’s training policy meets our criteria you could qualify for AAT employer accreditation.

An easy way to ensure your staff’s continued professional development is to support their application for professional AAT membership. And if you have staff with non-AAT qualifications, they can benefit from AAT full membership, too.

You can help by

  • verifying your employee’s work experience
  • providing a reference to confirm their suitability for full membership
  • paying for, or contributing to, their membership fees.

If you pay subscription fees by Direct Debit, your employee will receive

AAT members studying for a relevant accountancy or finance qualification can also receive reduced subscriptions.

Joining AAT as a full member with a non-AAT qualification

Do you have staff with non-AAT accounting or finance qualifications? They may be eligible to benefit from the professional support and credibility that comes with MAAT status.

We offer alternative routes to full membership from non-AAT qualifications that we have mapped to the AAT Accounting Qualification syllabus. These include:

  • part qualified, fully qualified and full member routes for UK chartered accountancy bodies
  • routes from selected UK accounting or finance sandwich degrees
  • fully qualified and full member routes from other accounting bodies.Setting standards you can rely on.

Each route is carefully structured to maintain the high standards you associate with MAAT status. So you can always be confident that every AAT full member you employ is a credible, up-to-date professional.
