Flexible learning and study support

Flexibility is key to AAT – our flexible course structures help your staff to develop their skills while contributing effectively to your business. AAT student members are eligible for a wealth of study support, and you can support your staff in other, non-financial ways, too.
Flexible learning
Many students study from home and attend college to sit computer based assessments (CBA's).

Study support
AAT is a professional membership organisation. When your employee signs up to study for an AAT qualification, they become an AAT student member, with access to a wealth of resources and services, including:
- An online e-learning zone with easy to use, interactive tutorials
- Free online access to past exam papers, student discussion forums and relevant articles
- Accounting Technician magazine – expert opinions, accountancy news and articles
- Regional AAT events – often free – for student members.
Supporting your staff during their training
You can help your staff to improve their success rates:
1. Providing time and space to study
Many organisations find that giving their staff paid study leave (to attend classes, revise or sit exams) boosts AAT pass rates.
2. Work experience and mentoring
Shadowing colleagues, and placements or job swaps in different departments, gives students the chance to master the skills they learn during AAT training. Appointing a mentor for your AAT students can also help their confidence and understanding to grow as they train.
3. Allowing your staff time to attend AAT branch events
As AAT members, your employees will be able to take part in a wide range of courses and events at our regional branches. Many of these focus on specific topics and relevant issues - like tax changes after the Budget or new financial legislation. These courses are also open to non-AAT members of your team.
4. Supporting your staff's progression to professional AAT membership
Once they complete their AAT Accounting Qualification, most students choose to become an AAT full member, which allows them to use the letters MAAT after their name. By encouraging your AAT qualified staff to become full members, you can be sure that
- they are committed to keeping their skills and knowledge up to date
- their contribution to the professionalism of your team is enhanced.
