One of the best things about the AAT is that it’s open to everyone - AAT celebrates Adult Learners' Week

Adult Learners Week held on 15-21 May seeks to inspire people to see what learning could do for them, offering them the chance to catch up on skills they’ve missed out on in the past, or develop themselves for the future. It also wishes to recognise the achievements of many people out there who have returned to learning.

Paula Fielden-Stewart, 41, from Bristol is one of many adult learners who decided to take the plunge and update her skills with the AAT Accounting Qualification. She currently works full time as a postperson for Royal Mail, studies the AAT during the evening and is a Mum to 4 children.

She explains: "After I finished temporary role as a reserve Assistant Delivery Office Manager for Royal Mail, I realised that I really enjoyed office work and dealing with customers. Now my children are a little older, I felt the time was right to study for the AAT and build a new career path for myself."

"One of the best things about the AAT is that it’s open to everyone. I don’t have a background in finance or relevant qualifications but I never felt this put me at a disadvantage. I had my children young and now I’m thinking about my career choices later in life. I feel I can focus on what I really want to do."

"The AAT has given me confidence. I love working for Royal Mail and really hope to apply for a finance job one day. Before the AAT, I would never have thought it was even a possibility."
