Connect Events Connect is a series of workshops which provide CPD opportunities at locations not currently reached by our branch network. An important part of our calendar, these half day events are free to all AAT members and cover popular topics including: topical VAT, CIS update, HMRC investigations, employment law and tax administration/HMRC powers.

Held in locations that do not currently have a branch these events are a great opportunity for you to meet fellow AAT members and get a valuable CPD update too.

Online services Our online services, particularly the podcasts, blogs and videos, act both as standalone services and as complements to our mastercourse and branch events.

Key speakers and members, including those who deliver our mastercourses, record podcasts on their areas of expertise. From January 2010, we'll host a year-long series of podcasts which will throw professional light on important accountancy and business issues. Themes range from charity accounting topics and management techniques to employment taxes and the 2010 Budget.

Professional ethics workshop The ethics workshop gives you an insight into how to resolve ethical issues and develop your understanding of how you would deal with difficult situations. Free for all AAT members, it's also a good opportunity to share your experiences with other AAT colleagues. The workshops will cover:
  • What are ethics and why are they important?
  • What are the fundamental principles included in the AATs ethical guidelines?
  • What particular guidance needs to be understood by various categories of AAT members?
  • How can you recognize threats to your ethical position, and what safeguards may help?
  • What legal issues do you need to consider?

Guidance in this session will be through lecture sessions including consideration of some typical scenarios and plenty of opportunities for questions.

Members in practice (MIP) introduction sessions If you have ever thought about running your own accountancy practice the MIP introduction sessions will provide you with all the information you need to know about becoming your own boss. Free for AAT members, these introduction sessions will show you how AAT can help you in becoming a licensed member in practice.

Seminars for tutors Seminars for tutors, our CPD for tutors events, are specifically designed for anybody delivering, assessing and administering AAT qualifications.

Costs
  • The cost of a full day seminar is £135 (unless otherwise stated) until 1 September 2012.
  • The cost for a half day seminar is £85 (unless stated otherwise).
  • All approved training providers are given one free seminar voucher per year of approval. The details of these will be communicated to all Course Coordinators initially; however we will inform all tutors once per month afterwards to state which vouchers you are able to use.

Centre network meetings Centre network meetings are free events for AAT tutors. They are held regionally and allow tutors to meet with colleagues from other training providers to discuss AAT-related issues. AAT staff also attend to answer questions and provide updates on AAT matters.

Student revision courses Student revision courses are designed for students that would like extra support before their exams. The courses are run in May and November each year.

Student revision courses are £59 for a whole day (9am - 4pm).
