Become an AAT tutor, assessor or verifier

Do you want to pass on your specialist accounting skills? Then put your skills and knowledge to good use by preparing students for AAT qualifications.

Become an AAT tutor

All learning areas in the AAT Accounting Qualification are assessed by computer based assessments, so you would be preparing students for their assessments. If you're interested in working as an AAT tutor, please contact your local AAT training provider to see what qualifications or experience they may require.

Become an AAT assessor

Some of the AAT Accounting Qualification’s learning and assessment areas involve project work or the provision of work-based evidence. These must be marked by a qualified assessor. You would need to hold an appropriate assessor qualification (such as the A1 assessor award or the Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment) to be eligible to do this. In addition, you must be occupationally competent in the areas you assess.

If you do not have the appropriate qualifications you may be able to assess students' work under the supervision of an experienced assessor, while you work towards gaining an assessor qualification.

Become an AAT verifier

As an AAT verifier, you will monitor the accuracy and consistency of assessment decisions for AAT projects.

To become an internal verifier you will need to hold a relevant internal quality assurance qualification (such as the V1 verifier award or the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice) and be occupationally competent. You may be able to train on the job to become an internal verifier under the supervision of an experienced verifier. Ideally, you would also hold one of the assessor awards mentioned above.
