Learning support

In addition to providing funding for your staff's AAT training, helping them in other ways can improve their success rates.

Supporting your staff to full membership of the AAT

We appreciate that you want your people to keep their skills up to date to maintain their ongoing professionalism and the competitiveness of your organisation.

Any member of your staff who has completed the AAT Accounting Qualification is eligible to apply for full membership of the AAT.

An easy way to ensure the continued professional development of your AAT qualified staff is to encourage and support their application for full membership.

The application process is very straightforward. You can help by verifying your employee's work experience and providing a reference to confirm their suitability for full membership.

You could also support them by paying for, or contributing to, their membership fees. If you pay subscription fees by Direct Debit the member will receive an ongoing discount plus an initial three months' membership free of charge.

A reduced subscription is also available to those studying towards a relevant accountancy or finance qualification.

Work experience and mentoring

Hands on experience at work gives students the opportunity to master the skills they are learning during their AAT training.

By arranging for your AAT employees to shadow colleagues, to job swap or to do placements in different departments, the more their understanding, abilities and contribution to your organisation are likely to grow.

Appointing someone to mentor your AAT students can also be worthwhile. A mentor can offer support and encouragement, as well as keeping an eye on the progress your employees are making during their training.

Providing time and space to study

The support you give your employees can take other forms as well. Many organisations find that allowing their staff paid leave to attend classes, to revise or to sit exams, boosts AAT pass rates.

Allowing staff time to attend AAT branch events

Membership of the AAT will give your employees access to a wide range of courses and events at our regional branches.

Many of these focus on specific topics and relevant issues - like tax changes after the Budget or new financial legislation. These courses are also open to non-AAT members of your team. Click here to find out more about our branch network and find free events near you.
