I am trying to find out more information about the Payroll Administration course. I would probably have to do it distance learning so does anyone have any recommendations for good courses?

Also, I have searched the AAT site but can't seem to find that much information about it. I have just completed Technician level (I hope)so how much work would this course be in comparison with that?

Thanks

Hi Maggie,

I have nearly completed my first year, Level 2 in Payroll Admin, and I have found the course very interesting but I have gone to college one day a month to study and have found this much better than the distance learning like I did for my Foundation. Although I have still had to put in ltos of extra hours at home and also a few at work to keep on top of the work load. (The course is very demanding!!)

I have found with the course that you need to collect lots of evidence from work
(which one of the girls on my course has struggled with as she isn't totally Payroll based at work.)

Hope this helps, if you need to know anything else just give me a shout.

Nic

Hi Nic,

Thanks for replying and for the info. I think I may have to do distance learning because there doesn't seem to be a course near where I live. I do the payroll for a very small business with 5 employees - do you think this would be enought to collect evidence from?

Yeah definatley, but when it comes to SSP, SMP, SAP and SSP you may find you might struggle a little!!

Hi,

I started the Payroll level 2 course about two months ago on distance learning.

I have found the first few chapters in the tutorial book quite straight forward about new starters and leavers and SSP etc. I am now reading about tax tables which does take alot of work to get used to them.

I don't work in payroll at all but I am enjoying the course but it does take alot of work. I work for around two hours every other night and I don't seem to be getting very far at the moment.

If you are interested in the course I would go for it.

Regards
Hayley

I have just finished my Tech level and am also looking into doing a payroll course.

There is also nowhere local that runs a payroll qualification.

I am not sure where I can do AAT NVQ Payroll distance learning, but have found somewhere to do a Diploma in Payroll Management.

Does anybody know if there are similarities or if a diploma is worth doing. It is ran by the Institue of Chartered Bookkeepers and reasonably priced at £335.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dan
