Starting intermediate in September at college. Passed 'a' level accounts many years ago, so instead of taking foundation I want to use the next three months to study a book covering foundation.
Any comments?
Please advise on following
1) Osborne books (this is what the college will be using) - one book covers all units
2) BPP books - a number to buy as they do them individually
3) Frank woods Business Accounting vol. 1 &2 or bookkeeping and accounts
4) faulks lynch

Any thoughts will be appreciated

Hiya, I also did my A Level in accounting and an currently about to finish Technician AAT, Foundation (& Intermediate) level is easy compared to the A Level ( remember doing gearing, and share capital etc well that doesnt even come up in AAT until Technician level!!)

All the foundation level is giving you is a good grounding on double entry and very basic stuff like that which you have more than covered in your A Level. (you simply have to put loads of balances into T accounts, do a trial balance, and a couple of adjustments)

If you still have your Frank Woods (1) book from your A Level that actually covers foundation through to technician for some areas.

I suggest you download the exam paper from this website, if you can do that then you wont need to do any extra work!

In regards to books I know the worst one is Faulks & Lynch they go into way too much detail for what you actually need, either Osbourne or BPP ( although I do still use my A Level Frank Woods books also)

Hope that helps
