This website has changed for the better hasn't it. You now don't have to scroll down to read the topics. Still the same strange logo, but much better in my opinion.

Yup - or are we just getting used to it?

I think an improvement to the website would be to get someone who actually know what they are doing.

Just tried changing my 'dark' photo for another 'not-so-dark' one and the old one just keeps reappearing...

Do we have to wait for new ones to be 'approved'? LOL!

Grrrrrrrrr........

Seems to be ok now. Perhaps it was just cached locally on your computer.

Oh dear, having read this and your other post ikram, I do hope you haven't joined the forum just to be another "troll"...? I trust you're here to do more than rubbish/mock those of us that are here for a genuine reason?

If you think it and if it offends you then this is not my problem .I have the right to give comments on it and I did not like the new logo. For your information I have passed the advanced level certificate in Diploma pathway and I dolove the AAT but This change is very annoying for me.I always hate the small letters to represent any organisation. Who proposed it I doubt he is professional and if it offends you any way then This is not my problem

Goodluck and do not shout at me now.

Sorry ikranm, I didn't mean to offend you, just that your post didn't make it clear that it was only the logo you didn't like!

Best regards,

I was hoping for something along the lines of "see spot run", "spot sees the ball", "it is a red ball", etc.

Hmmm... puts away "Learn Panjabi while you sleep..." Pulls out "Crash course in Hindi for the severely stressed and highly frazzled..." Just give me a mo and it will be game on...

Okay... Ikram.

I have made a rough attempt to translate your comments. Before I give a response, let me point out that I am currently in the process of being recruited by Victim Support as a Hate-Crime support Worker (Voluntary). Where I am likely to be dealing with people who have just had an 'encounter' with a gang of BNP skinheads, etc... Being able to communicate in a variety of languages would be kind of helpful... Victim Support will also be enhancing my counselling skills.

I've only been able to translate some of the words, and the overall impression I get, is that you don't want me to talk to you.

Fair enough. I apologise for disturbing you.

PS Lord Ganesha is one of my favourites... and a particularly relevant portfolio for this environment...

I apologise every one if they did not like my messages and please do not reply this messages because I do not want to communicate any more.

Erm... Malcolm/Julian -

When I log-on, sometimes my name shows up at the bottom of the 'Forums Index' and other times I'm 'invisible' (but still able to post).

What's 'appenin, dudes?

Hiya dude, [said in best Bill and Ted style voice]

[air guitars]

Have had a look at this and we simply don't know why this is the case. What browser and version are you using?

Also, when you go to look at the Forum Index, are there lots of people logged on or does it happen at any time regardless of that?

It's a strange case or randomness, but let us know if it happens again but make a note of any detail such as the above.

Sorry I can't help any further at this point :(

I've seen this too when Helen (Baggybooks) has been posting but not showing as being online! From the looks of it she's probably online now but invisible!

Stealth mode! I like that!

I'm using IE7 at moment, but may switch back to v 6 in future.

I'm showing up at the moment of posting (now). There are about half a dozen people logged on as well.

If I'm the only one, then you get 'guest' which switches to toadface when I log-on. (Rare absence of CJC...)

I'm not impressed with IE7 - not only does it distort the website (refresh solves this) but I get repeated complaints about the security certificate, now. (This used to happen only once - when first entering the website...)

Will post you again when in 'stealth mode', then you can check if there is anything happening at your end.

I noticed it too - I've also popped up as guest!

Edit: I have V7

Hmmm, interesting. It seems IE7 is throwing up a few issues on our site.

Are there any others reading this who have experienced the same but who have NOT been using IE7?

I want to see if this is just exclusive to 7 or whether this has been going on for ages but has only just been observed.

As I've written elsewhere, I incredibly dislike the new IE7 and would like to roll back to IE6. I've disabled the tabbing - the biggest feature of IE7 - as I got fed up with accidentally clicking the 'x' and closing down the whole thing! However, if I go to uninstall it, it gives me a warning message that it may remove certain parts of Media Player 11, possibly rendering it unusable. Since this is the best version of Media Player so far, it's bloody annoying that it's so tied into the worst version of Internet Explorer so far!

I can only assume that IE7 is part of the massively overdue Vista operating system and so has been rushed out only half completed?!

Bah!

Just had a look to see if I could use System Restore but my restore points don't go back far enough to late November when I upgraded to IE7! I'm a bit of a tight sod with my hard drive space!

I could uninstall IE7 from the control panel, let it do it's dirty deeds with Media Player and see what it does. I could always upgrade MP again later. Mind you, not too sure if it would completely uninstall IE altogether so I wouldn't even be able to go online at all afterwards!

And even if I could, I know that Windows will only try again later to re-upgrade to IE7 and I don't particularly want to disable Windows update.

Oh, the miserable complexities! I should just accept it shouldn't I?!!!

Robert

Feelings may change.

Don't understand - I've used it at home and work for weeks and can't see what's not to like.

The tabs are great - and I love the squirly wheels!

Surely it's like a new bar of chocolate? You try it, you like it - you will always like it!

Mmm must go to the shop...

[Insert standard comment about Firefox here]

Oh well, looks like it's back to all the CSS hacks needed to make websites display the same in weird old IE6 as they do in standards complient browsers - just when Microsoft had come up with an almost OK browser at long last too.

:?

Another quirk I've noticed with IE7 is that sometimes when I click a hyperlink to another site it opens up in the same window rather than in a new one. I can't remember that happening in version 6, meaning I have to use the backspace more often now to return to the previous site.

So Chris, do you think this is just a link issue from the linking site or a quirk within Internet Explorer itself? :?

Robert

Baggybooks
01-02-07, 17:16
Can't you change that in your options?

CJC
01-02-07, 19:41
Basically it's a quirk of IE7... but as Helen said if you change the tabs settings in Internet Options you should be able to get things working more to your liking.

I couldn't do without tabbed browsing now - although oddly enough with Firefox you really need to install the Tab Mix Plus add-on to get it working properly.

blobbyh
02-02-07, 10:26
It's not consistent Helen since it's only occasional and not all the time, though I have just gone and disabled another option to see if it has any effect.

While we're on geeky stuff, does anyone know how to clear the search cache from my Google search bar? I don't really want the directors to know what I've been up to in work time, do I?!!! :(

"does anyone know how to clear the search cache from my Google search bar?"

On IE7 - Delete browsing history - top right hand side of screen.

Scott.

Okay - Malcolm.

I've logged on again, but my handle isn't showing up.

There are only two other people logged-on - Chris and Robert.

(IE version 7)

Edit - at 7.30am, refreshed and my handle showed up...? (Refreshed previously to this, with no effect to the Forums Index.)
