Just thought it would be interesting to see how different employers reward their staff at Xmas - some get loads and some get nowt!

What type of employer do you work for? How big are they and what do they give you for Crimbo? What time do you get off?

I work for a large international financial services provider.

Our Xmas do was a 3 course meal, entertainer and disco in a local trendy bar - all paid for and with a free bar all night - it started at 12, so we got the rest of the afternoon off for free!

We get this Friday afternoon off and can finish early inbetween Xmas and New Year, but I have booked it off anyway.

We're given a Crimbo bonus and a present, which we have not got yet so am not sure what it is, although I have seen loads of boxes of Veuve Clicquot champagne stacked up in the directors office! Last year they gave out Fortnum & Mason hampers. Have heard a rumour our manager has got us something too!

I've only worked here for a few months and am pretty impressed! My other employers were stingy!! :-)

I'm telling everyone that they can come back to work on the 2nd - keeping their job is a gift enough!

Employers generosity varies so much but I've never thought it appropriate to ask at an interview what sort of stuff I'd get at Christmas.

I work for a small manufacturing/maintenance company (25 employees) and we get a nice Christmas bonus, a free Christmas party with three-course meal and disco or band, and a half-day on the last working day before Christmas.

Not too bad but hardly Fortnum & Mason!!

I work for Royal Mail and all I get at Christmas is 50 free 1st class stamps. Fine you might say but all my christmas cards get sent out 2nd class so I have to buy stamps anyway. No parties, no pressies, no nothing  I'm sure they think along the sames lines as Helen, having a job is good enough!!

Just 'Keeping your job' for me too. We certainly don't have any decorations around the office, bonuses, presents or parties. We are obliged to take three days as holiday (the rest of the Christmas Day/Boxing Day public holiday week)

I work for a medium-sized security company. Not sure what constitutes 'medium'- our turnover is around £14 million and we have around 800 employees.

well our turonver is higher than that but we only have about 80 employees and i always thought this was a decent sized comany so in that case i dont know either!

I work for a small to medium construction company. We break up tomorrow until the 4th January.
Xmas bonus equivalent to a full months salary, christmas party, hotel dinner dance free over night stay including partners, and an equal split of all bottles or gifts sent into the directors for xmas on the day we break up.

Pretty good!!

I work for a small-medium practice and we get to travel for nearly 2 hours to get a christmas lunch. I think I'd rather have a bonus

A few years ago, I was temping with the HSE over Christmas. Not only did i have to pay for the Christmas lunch but I had my pay docked for the extra hour that we had off that day. The food was rubbish too. I should have stayed in the office twiddling my thumbs.
