Newcastle anyone?

I am in Newcastle in two weeks time for the first time ever, to go to St James Park to watch a game with the mrs. Anyone know the city and can reccommend anywhere good to eat / drink? I think we are stopping somewhere called Jesmond.

You will pretty much be able to take your pick of places when in Newcastle.

There's the relatively new 'Shearer's Bar'. (though pretty busy on match days for obvious reasons!):

'The Gate' is a good place to go. Full of bars and restaurants, and only 2 mins walk from St James Park:

Then there's the world famous 'Bigg Market', just down the road again (stumble into a couple of other pubs and clubs on the way down :lol: ). The Quayside also has a good atmosphere.

But, to be honest, I couldn't recommend anywhere specific as I always end up somewhere different everytime I go out. All I would say is just head into town, and see where you end up. You are guaranteed to have a great night, whether you're out for a drinking session, or just a quiet drink and a meal (I recommend the first :lol: )

If you fancy a slightly quieter night, you could do worse than stay in Jesmond, as there are now numerous bars and restaurants on Osborne Road. It's usually pretty lively on a weekend, but not quite as 'in your face' as the Bigg Market.

Id never even heard of a place called Jesmond until yesterday!! But I am a 'foreigner' when it comes to going up north!

I managed to get Friday off work, so I have two nights in Newcastle!!!!!!!!
