Careful what you hope for. Might be that she thinks having an uncaring boyfriend isn't for her!

Well I'm single, so I think I'm going to go and find a pub in town where some nice single lasses are drowning their respective sorrows. With a bit of luck, one of them will be drunk enough that they think I'm cute! :P (but not so drunk that I'd be taking advantage).

By the time they got to that stage with me they'd be suffering from alcohol poisoning :?

I'll be sharing the company of quite a few women on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, we'll all be doing a skills test

I will be at family planning.

How appropriate!

Chris - exactly what 'skills' do you mean?!

Sarah and I are going to have a load of fun tomorrow, we've decided not to buy one another anything but instead to use the money to buy paint and decor and re-do the bedroom and living room :-) should be a right old laugh, looking forward to it.

Seeing as it's Valentines Day and I can't be grumpy forever, I'm gonna show my softer side for a fraction of a second. So what's everyones favourite "partner" song, the one that reminds you most of your current love?

Mine is "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol seeing as I've only been with my girlfriend since late November. Over ten weeks now - almost a record for me plus my first Valentines Day card for five years!

Soft side over now...

Robert

14-02-07, 14:38
I dont have one! i hope you got her something nice Rob!

Paul22
14-02-07, 14:40
Not a ballad or anything but mine is Simple Plan - Id do anything. Reminds me of our first holiday together, and not a bad punk-pop-rock song!

Kylie - on a night like this......

Mine is Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. That song is older than me!

Rob your softer side is quite soft!

"You're the Inspiration" by Chicago is my choice. Check out the lyrics via Google.

Really soppy now, ours is 'It must be love' by Madness as that was in the charts when my husband and I first went out together (there was a gap of 20 years inbetween though). We had it playing whilst we signed the register at our wedding. Altogether now - ahhhhhh (or bleergh)

Well, 'something' did happen with the ex-girlfriend and she ended up becoming the greatest love of my life (to date) for over eighteen months. However, she/we lived in Brum while my children were in Sussex and eventually a choice had to be made since I was in purgatory. I chose my kids and it truly broke my heart when I had to leave her. It took me three years to get over it.

There might be the old phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but there should also be one saying "If it is broke, don't mend it"

However, today is Valentines Day, I've reconciled myself with the past and am now with someone who could be even greater yet...

Well said, you never know what the future holds but like i keep getting told your family will always be there but partners might not be, so your children would always have won over the ex girlfriend
Even though it broke your heart i bet iit was mended itself by the time spent with your children

Couldn't she have moved to Sussex with you? I know it's a big decision, but some things have to be done.

blobbyh
14-02-07, 17:19
She wouldn't move to Sussex which really showed her commitment to me. She broke my heart for three years but only proved that she didn't deserve to have it in the first place...

Three things kept me going; my little angel Caitlyn singing the Moby song "Why does my heart feel so bad" but substituting the word 'bad' for good';

The second was the kindness shown to me by my best friend - who's now my boss and has paid for all my training; Chris (and his wife) was "just there" for me when I needed him to be. We never discussed or talked about my problems - he just knew to be around and help me though them, completely unspoken. I think this is a purely male thing and not sure if women would do this?

The third was the Robbie Williams song "Something Beautiful", which was out at the time and inspired me that things do get better no matter how grim!

So I have two angels in my life - the third just sang about them...!

See! Gem was right - I do have a soft side in here somewhere! Shhhhhh - don't tell anyone...

Oh Robert. So sad - but sounds positive now.

Whoever started this Valentine thread should have put a warning on it.

Helen

PS - women are there too - when things are rough all friends should be there.

' Friends should always be there for you', never have truer words been said!

When my first husband left me, completely unexpectedly, my life turned upside down. Sunday's were the worst as all my friends were with their families but my best friend had my daughter and I over for dinner and a walk every Sunday even though it was the only day she and her husband had together! True friendship.

Having said that it was a good job he did leave as if I had met Simon when we were still married I think something would have happened anyway - gulp!

Yes I met Simon through Friends Reunited and our baby (now 4) is the first Friends Reunited baby! He was in the Daily Mail when he was only 4 days old and the feature that we did in Bella (classy) before he was born paid for me to get through technician.

So Friends Reunited is one of my favourites!

Hmmmmmmmm....... tough one Paul...

Let me think...

West Sussex vs West Midlands

Shoreham-by-Sea vs Aston

Sussex downs vs M6 toll road

Nice "educated" accent vs "Ozzy Osbourne" black country accent

Driving along the coast road vs driving down the Coventry Road

Maybe it's not so tough after all!

Are you being sarcastic or humourous? :x

Real people's lives are always far more interesting than the spun out, editorally biased reality garbage we see every night on the idiot box. This forum is far more interesting than EastEnders or Emmerdale anytime... Study Buddy in itself is a marathon soap opera that'll never die!
