Hi The free CD shows calculators to the left of screen, select this and then select to calculate tax, then select other calculators on this disc, then select NI Class 1 calculator. Does that help?

One thing you wont be able to do is produce payslips from the CD Rom, you have to remember that this is not a payroll system, it merely has facilities to calculate income tax and national insurance contributions based on the information you provide it with.

Yes it will do the eventual on line filing for you, that's a new facility with the 2008 version but one word of warning, always check the calculations manually as you would with any other calculation programme.

You can contract out the work involved to a system or a provider but you cannot contract out the responsibility for it being right nor the liability if you get it wrong. Blaming the software wont get you anywhere, though if the calculation routines in the HMRC CD Rom are incorrect you may get a smoother ride over any penalties!
