Hello,

Am I too ambitious to think that I could sit my foundation exam in June? I only started and am at double entry bookkeeping now.
I understand it quiet well but want to make sure that I understand everything properly rather than rushing through. I also need to have time to revise.

Thanks in advance for your answers :001_smile:

Hi

You are not too ambitious at all. I started with no background knowledge in September 05 and sat foundation in December 2005. The AAT exams appear to be designed so that you should be able to start and compete each paper within a 6 month slot. You could choose to sit more than one if you wish as well.

Go for it. You'll be fine.

Thanks for your reply Speegs.

I also forgot to mention that I am doing this in homestudy? So can only study on evenings and weekends. Is that still ok?
Was that the same for you? Which provider did you study with?

How did you go on about the studying? How much reading/ revising did you do in each unit?

I dont fint BPP very helpfull with this. They only say that it should not take longer than two and a half years for all three stages.

Hi,

You are not being too ambitious, I started PLB in October '06 and sat the exam in Dec '06. I am a distance learner with only weekends and evenings for studying but I managed and enjoyed it. Just stay focused and don't be frightened to ask for help if you are stuggling with something.
I went on to do ECR and FRA in June '07 and then 3 Tech exams in Dec '07. Hope to finish in June'08.

You can do it!!

Good Luck:thumbup:

I hope you aren't being too ambitious, or I am too.

I too have just started to study unit 30, homestudy, and am hoping to sit my exam in June. I have grasped the basics of double entry, but I am having a few problems with posting the CRB and what I would balance it against to enable me to write up a trial balance. Once I get around this the rest seems fairly straight forward and it doesn't seem too impossible to consider an exam in June.

I can always resit in December if I fail!!

I am finding the same with BPP, they didn't seem to provide a great deal of help and I am finding the course companion very disjointed. Have been using Frank Woods as additional study material which I have so far found better than the set text.

Thanks for your replies. I feel a lot better now.

I just got home and received the Exam Entry Form from AAT. I will wait till the end of March to see how I fell about sitting the exam in June though.

How do you organize your studying? How do you know how long to take for one section of the Unit?

I just got the Frank Wood of the Library and find it very easy to understand and will buy my own copy soon.

I brought Frank Woods Business Accounting v1, I have found it very useful, especially in clarifying the BPP Course companion. It is very expensive though, look at their companion website at www.peasoned.co.uk/wood which has a lot of student learning material. Will give you an idea of their teaching style. I find it much better than my learning provider :thumbup1:
