Hi everyone,

I would like to go on to study ACCA in February next year, I will receive my AAT Technician results in mid February and have asked ACCA for exemptions, now I have been told by them that I will have to register by 31 December if I want to sit exams in June 2005, also I would have to submit my education documentation then too. I can't believe it takes them two months just to give they students exemptions, has anyone encounted this before and how did you resolve this problem?

Regards,

Nafisa

I am also trying to register with the ACCA for the June 2005 exams and I have found ou from the application pack that you need to register by the 31st Dec but you have until the end of January to submit the exemptions so its unlikely you will be able to if you do not get your results until February. However You can get expemtions from 1.1 & 1.2 without finishing all the Technician units so that might be an option. I am considering paying for unit 1.3 and not sitting the exam then submitting my exemption at a later date.

Hope this is usful.

Leasa

Leasa,

That is a better plan, as I have paid to sit 6 papers it doesn't matter which because I didn't pay for them individually but as a package I could always delay starting the paper 1.3, which is Managing Systems (MSP in AAT). So I get to start early and get my exemptions sorted.

Regards,

Nafisa

Hi

You're right that you'll need to register before the end of December to take the June exams, this applies to all students regardless of taking exemptions or not. In the past, ACCA have extended the exemptions deadline til the end of February for AAT students (though they still need to register before the end of December), check with ACCA directly to see if they will still be continuint with this method.

Also, ACCA fees become due on the 1st January of each year-if you register now your registraton fee will only take you to the end of December, so you'll need pay them again come January.

Neil

I'm really glad I looked on the forum - I've never been on it before... I too am sitting my final (hopefully!!!) AAT exams Personal Tax and Company Tax in Nov/Dec 2004 and hope to go on to do ACCA after. Am currently concentrating on revision and then will be properly looking at ACCA registration. etc. As you can obviously start studying by buying the books. etc. before registering I think I will do that and wait for the outcome of my AAT. Then once I have all the necessary docs I will register and apply for the exemption. At the moment I don't want to sit any exams in June 05 as I'm all examed out at the moment! As far as I know you have to sit the exams in blocks, rather than sitting them as and when, one at a time (if you see what I mean!!) Can anyone give me a bit more insight into it?
Please reply to me at: lauraloulou17@hotmail.com

Hi LJG

You're right the ACCA exams are in blocks like the AAT exams. ACCA have an exam session in June and December.

Neil
