I am shortly to start AAT course. Have read many messages on the old forum and benefitted from much of the advice. Look forward to gaining your help as the course progresses. I am trying to find a book or books to help me teach myself foundation level before intermediate course starts at college in September - any recommendations - heard about BPP, their books cost about £100 in total for all the units. Are they worth buying? Is it also practical for me to learn the basics of foundation over the next three months or so?..

I started at Intermediate level without doing Foundation along with a large number of people in my class, we are due to finish Technician in June and have not had any problems. If you really want to do it I would suggest looking at the Osbourne books as they are very good.

I am just finishing Foundation and we used the BPP books which were ok. We only had to buy the books for Units 1,2,3 & 4. Didn't need the ones for Units 20, 22 and 23. Unit 20 is Sage so was all done from handouts. Units 22 & 23 are portfolio work so you didn't need them either as everything you need is in your student pack. I wouldn't buy any books until you start as the syllabus is changing from September so any books bought before then will probably be out of date and unusable. Don't stress about learning before you start, its all pretty easy stuff! From what I hear the units 22 & 23, portfolio work is going to change to an assessment so my advice is to sit back and wait until you start. Hope that helps.
