View Full Version : Private Nursery / Kindergarten Issues
Hi,

I may be taking on the book keeping for a private childrens nursery in the new year and am keen to get myself clued up in advance !

I think the biggest difficulty I face is the various grants available at the moment. The nursery doesn't feel that they are on top of that area as they are keen child care practioners and not really into the paperwork. A brief scour of the internet has just confused matters !. I think everything from Ofsted grants to milk money seems to be coming my way.

Any hints from someone who works in this area or contacts to other nursery practioners would be much appreciated as I really want to make a go of this.

Many thanks.
Hi
I've been doing nursery work for 6 years, few things i learnt:
1. Setup a standing order or direct debit for the fees to come in on the first of every month
2. The council should have a dedicated person to help with the nursery grants, speak to him, he will explain the system to you.
3. Milk claims are reperative, when you do the first clain, all the rest are the same
If you need more help please contact me
Michael
Thanks Michael - I appreciate your help

One more thing, how does the invoicing work in terms of all of the flexibility which is on offer these days ! I get the impression that attendance is largly recorded in manual diaries - is this what you have found ?

Thanks again

Stephen
