Hiya

I am really, really, terrible at maths but I've managed.

At foundation level you only need know how to add up and take away (honestly)but further ir you'll need to know how to do percentages and one or two other bits and pieces but it won't be a problem - promise.

I only have Personal Tax to go (on Fri) and hopefully tha'll be me finished.

Good luck.

Clare

Oh boy, I was terrible at maths at school (diabolical even!!!)

yes maths will probably help but you don't need to be Carol Vorderman to be an accountant. Im currently studying ACCA finals (which does involve a lot of mathematical formulas) and have never come across maths in this context until the ACCA finals.

When you start the AAT you will find that the maths knowledge is very limited (if hardly any) and is mainly about preparation of accounts (via trial balance preparation) and you will find that the only maths you use is adding up!!

Good luck, let me know how you get on

Do you have any tips on working out percentages & discount? Or a formula? For example multiplying by 100 etc.

To work out a discount:
£ divide by 100 multiply by the percentage figure
(e.g 25% of £436 = 436 divide by 100 x 25)
This is how I have been taught to calculate a percentage/discount.

Just for refernce to de-VAT a price divide the gross value by 1.175 will give you the net price.

Hope this helps!
Caroline
