January seems very early to draw attention to revision courses for exams in the middle of June.
Monday 13 June
Morning
PEV (2003 standards )
Contributing to the Management of Performance and Enhancement of Value
Technician

Afternoon
ECR (2003 standards)
Recording and Evaluating Costs and Revenues
Intermediate
Thursday 16 June
Morning
PCR (2003 standards)
Contributing to the Planning and Control of Resources
Technician

I have received a request to run a revision day or weekend in or near Lincoln.
I am considering this request but am looking at a wide area including Sheffield, Nottingham, and Mansfield in addition to Lincoln and and places in between.
So I need to look at a schedule of places for these events.

I plan to have weekend sessions for PEV and PCR in:

Guildford/Woking

London/Essex

Bath/Bristol

Oxford/Headington

Crawley or Worthing/nearby

Lincoln or near Lincoln (possibly)

And for ECR single days in similar locations

I have identified the 5 weekends (2 days) and 2 weekends (3 days) during April and May.
(Sat Sun April 2/3, 16/17, 23/24, Sat/Sun/Mon 30 April 1/2 May, Sat Sun May 14/15, 21/22 and Sat/Sun/Mon 28/29/30)

If you are interested in attending a revision course (anywhere in the country) I would welcome an email, as this will enable me to begin to put together a more definite list of venues and dates.

As an indication, for anyone seeing this for the first time
I put a limit of 10 on each day, so classes are small. (In exceptional circumstances this might be allowed to increase to 12)

The format of each day is 4 sessions of approx 1¼ hrs. These run from 9.30 to 4.00 (possibly 4.30)
We look at all aspects of the syllabus focusing on the needs of the exam.

For PEV - this will be the third time that this exam has been written by the new examiner Andy Royle, and I am expecting more changes within the style of questions

For ECR - this will be the first time that this exam has been written by the new examiner Les Nightingale, and I am some changes within the style of questions.

PCR continues to be examined by John Watts, but these papers can vary from one exam to another. So we have to be aware of how he might decide to test the syllabus requirements.

We use a lot of practice questions, not necessarily past exam questions. This is particularly important in PEV and ECR as there are some differences in emphasis in between the new examiners and their predecessors. This can help us to try to master the subject matter and ultimately pass the exam.
Cost is £55 per day (although fees for very small groups may have to be raised to make the day viable)
I will always keep you up to date as far as developments with any courses.

I also run intensive courses for PEV and PCR where we start from scratch and cover the whole unit in 4 Satudays/Sundays. These are likely to start in March and end in May with two weeks between each class for exercises and consolidation.

If you are interested, please email me with your choice of

Venue

Exam Subject

Date

Revision Day or 4-day Intensive Course

sandy.hood@chichester.ac.uk

Thank you for your help. As soon as I have a rough idea of where what and when I will post again on this discussion board.

Sandy

Update February 2nd 2005

Dates and Venues

April 16/17 Possibly Croydon PCR and either PEV or ECR (at the moment PCR is popular but I have not had any PEV enquiries so I might run one day on ECR)

April 23/24 Possibly Essex (Thurrock - Basildon area) PCR/ PEV

May 14/15 Probably Guildford PEV/PCR

Others have had some interest but I will wait and see before trying to link dates to venues.

Rugby
I have had a request to run an ECR day near Rugby (i.e. Warwickshire/Leicestershire area). If there are any other students who are interested in this unit and this area, please could you let me know to enable me to build this into the schedule. Thank you.

myemailaddress

Hi Sandy

I am from Leicester and will be interested in doing a revision course with you when the results of the dreaded PEV results are out intwo weeks. Obviously I might suprise myself and actually pass, but we will wait and see. From Leicester I could get to Nottingham or Rugby once I know which area you will be holding the course, so I will keep an eye on this forum site.

Thanks in advance

I'm hoping the only revision I will need is for Unit 9 in June. I'm based in Croydon and would be very interested in attending revision for this.
Dear Sandy
Although I posted a message to you regarding a possible revision class for the dreaded PEV I will not be needed one as somehow I passed, more by luck than judgement I think, so only have the one and only DFS to do for technician now. Thanks for your info on revision classes anyway and I will tell them to contact you should anyone I know need them.

Many thank
