Today I received a letter from AAT once again congratulating me on achieving membership, and inviting me and all new full and fellow members to an award ceremony in Bath (there are 4 other locations). There will be free food and drink and another certificate will be issued (this time confirming attendance at the ceremony!).

As I already have my NVQ pass certificates and a membership certificate, the new one seems to be a record of attending the event. The main advantage of attending is meeting (and networking with) other recently-elected members in the area, something the local branch meetings may not specifically arrange.

Has anyone else who passed in the last 12 months had one of these and if so, what did you think? Have any members who joined some time ago been to one of these? Is it a "posh" event? Presumably the details of dress code etc are sent when confirming attendance, but I'd like to know what it's like before I go.

Then again - free food and (a) drink!
I became a MAAT in October 2002, and I also received a letter on Friday inviting me to the Awards Ceremony in London. I do not know about any dress-code, though (can anyone who has been before tell us, please).

I am taking the day off work to go sightseeing in London for the day, before the ceremony starts in the evening. I am looking forward to going, as it means meeting and chatting with other members in my area. I may also see some of my college friends again!

As you say - free food & drinks! I won't knock that!
I too recieved an invitation too the ceremony. I am looking forward to it. Some friends of mine went last year when it was held in Gloucester Cathedral and they wore Cap and Gowns!

That will suit me!
Hi,
Cap and Gown would be cool unfortunately Tony from the AAT has posted somewhere on the forum that it is informal you can wear a suit if you like or Jeans and a T shirt if you prefer. Maybe a crowd could rebell and hire cap and gowns!!!!!! (only joking)
Sarah
