View Full Version : Helppppppppp!!!!!!! June Exams
Hello everyone,

I used to use the old forum but haven't been online for a long time.
I am sitting units 8 and 9 and 11 of the Technician stage of the course in June and I am panicing so much!!
We only just starting learning the subjects in February and I just cannot see how it is going to be possible to learn all 3 subjects for the exams in June as they all seem pretty in depth. Every time I sit down to try and do some work I end up not accomplishing anything because I am trying to teach myself everything!!
Our teacher isnt really teaching us the subjects and is just giving us past papers or an exercise out of the BPP assessment text in class but I cannot see how I am to attempt these if I don't know the subject matter!! I have looked through the past papers and they look like they are in a different language, I don't even understand the questions let alone how to answer them!! I think the only bit I sort of understand at the moment is the sharing of the profits to partners in unit 11.
Can anyone offer any advice on where to start, I am spending every spare moment outside of work with my books and am getting nowhere and am feeling pretty hopeless!!
Hi Chloe,

First of all, try not to panic! Easily said, I know, but it won't get you anywhere. In defence of your tutor (although I don't know who he/she is, so why should I defend...?), most of us teacher types think that plenty of past papers are the best thing right now.

However, it seems you need a little more guidance. Try to look at the type of questions which come up again and again - most of the papers are fairly consistent in this respect.

I think you could do worse than buy some revision packs from www.aatrevision.biz - obviously I'm a bit biased as I wrote them, but I have had good feedback from my students! The packs talk about what is likely to be assessed, as well as working through a number of exercises of the type you will see.

If all else fails, perhaps try to find a private tutor in your area. I don't know where you are, but if you speak to some fellow students they might know of one.

Hope that helps, and best of luck!
Maybe you want to use a combination of past papers and text books (if you have them). I tend to do that for my near-exam revision, especially where there are calculations involved. Read teh quetion and provided answer, then find it in the books. Hopefully that explains the answer :)
