It's great to see someone using this forum now. I hope others will follow.
I am a self employed bookkeeper and it's always useful to hear ideas from others.
Has any one had any dealings with the Institute of Certified Book-keepers? I have just stumbled across them on the web whilst trying to find ideas for relevant courses. I would be interested to hear any comments.
They offer membership to students who have completed Tech level, but is this worth anything?

Hi,

I have heard of the ICB but I didn`t know that they offered membership if you were an aat tech. That is interesting.

Sarah
I have done a quick search for the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers but have not found their URL - do you have this? If it's a straightforward sign up based on AAT membership, I think it will be worth looking into.

Thank
Lesley
Hi

I looked at the ICB and the IAB (International Association of Book-keepers) when i was looking at what qaulification to take.

Both of their full qaulifications dont go much behond AAT Intermediate's MFR unit. I decided on the AAT as the AAT is much more recognised (including recognition by banks for accounts prepared by full AAT members) and AAT has a much more extensive offering in terms of status and services for self employed people.

Neil
This is the ICB web address. http://www.book-keepers.org
I have looked at this institute more closely now and I am tending to agree with above - AAT is better suited to those who have completed the Tech level
