Hi, had 3 nights tuition and 7 nights of home study (drafting financial statements etc and cash management. ) Not getting on very well with BPP books, no comment about college and feel like quitting. Can anyone recommend any other books which may approach the units in a different way - iNothing has sunk in and feeling very despondent.

advice would be very much appreciated.

Hi,
I didn`t get cash management when in college either but when i sat at home quietly with my book (The Financial Training Company) I managed to work it all out. It was quite interesting really and not to complicated.
I find the bpp books not bad generally but usually have another book alongside (Osbourne) as i find different companies books better for different topics. It is expensive though having two lots of books but it worked for me as i passed the cash mangement DA first time.

Good luck,

Sarah

Hi

The best thing I would recommend is to try and start again on the subjects youre having problems with. I use the BPP books and find them Ok, but evry one is different so you might try another.

I find one of the best ways to tackle a new subjet is to take it in bite size chunks - one chapter per evening during the week, perhaps extra at weekends if i need revison or to catch up. I read through, make clear concise notes as i go and then read through them after. I find this a better method (taking an hour or so per evening) than doing a few hours two or three nights a week.

I find if there's things like formulas or set principles to follow in a subject, it's a good idea to type up the formula etc, and have the print outs easy to hand to flick through on occasion to familiarise my self with them.

Don't give up, it'll be worthnit in the end.

N

Hi, I think the Osborne books are quite good. There are some helpful downloads on their website for DF - Sole trader and partnership stuff. These might be helpful to you, but I think it depends on whether you're studying the old or new standards. Have a look anyway, you never know and at least they'll give you an idea of what the Osborne books are like.

http://www.osbornebooks.co.uk/resources_aat_nvq.html

Hi,
Go for aatstudent. Think of all the time and hard work you will have wasted if you don`t finish and think how proud of yourself you will feel when you have finished. When you have finished and not studying you will probably be bored Ha Ha!!
Good luck,

sarah

For me there is nothing better than getting hold of as many past papers as you can!! I don't learn very much from books!! Past papers helped me a great deal!
