I am a licensed member able to offer book-keeping services and VAT returns, are there any members in practice who would be willing to let me sub contract book keeping services initially to them as a way of gaining good experience. I currently work full time in the financial services sector within a large finance department but do not get the opportunity at present to do the complete set of either management or financial accounts. I have some outside experience of doing the books of one small business for a year , but they were not VAT registered, this was using SAGE instant accounts.
I live in the ESSEX area and would prefer to work at home or if necessary at a clients premises but this would need to be outside normal business hours.
I would also like to gain more experience of doing year end financial accounts to be able to offer more.

Go it alone and advertise your services locally. You'll be surprised at how many clients you will pick up. There are alot of self-employed business people in need of somewhat to take care of their books or complete their accounts at a sensible price.
