I am just about to get my MAS project under way - this has been put off recently due to my spell out of work earlier this year but I'm now in temporary employment.

Can anyone give me any tasters or examples of what I can base my project on? I've been looking at the Accounts Payable function but would appreciate any feedback.

In order for you to start your project you need to create a basic layout of how the payroll sysytem is used, You need to describe exactly how it is used and what the good and bad points are. Once you have established any bad points within the current system, you need to make recommendations.

Hope this helps a bit

Talking about the accounts payable function, has anyone actually based their MAS project on this function? Did you take your current employment's accounts payable function as a basis for completing your project and how did you arrive at your recommendations/conclusion?

Any help will be very much appreciated. I know it's very late in the year but I haven't really had any discussions regarding this topic.

Cheers.

The purchase ledger is an ideal MAS to do your project on as you have many aspects.

Things you could include are;
Overall process
Flow of invoices(receipt, authorisation,process)
Authority matrix
Contingency plans in the event of signatories absence or the Purchase Ledger Clerks absence (eg delegation of authority)
Audit trail
Fraud etc.

Most purchase ledger systems need improving and streamlining in some way and this area will provide you with enough ideas to produce a good project.

Good luck!
