View Full Version : Importing to Sage via .csv
Ladyp

I read your post on the Sage thread with interest. Do I understand this correctly - I can import data, eg a batch of sales invoices or purchase invoices to Sage from a .csv file. You can save an Excel spreadsheet to .csv format, so can you then import this spreadsheet data into Sage?
We have had a local software developer trying to sell us this facility for £350!!
Please can you tell me a bit more about what you need to do this, and how it works.

Thank you
Sheelagh
Sorry about butting in Shelagh - but yes you can import from a .csv file in excel into Sage. You just need to know the exact layout - ie all the columns in excel must match the sage columns EXACTLY - there is a safeguard and it will not allow it if something is wrong. All the supplier/customer names must be exact. Without opening up sage, it is something like col A = SI/PC B = date C = customer/supplier name etc etc through details net, T1/0 etc and gross amount. Once you get the hang of it, it is dead simple and considerably quicker than inputting by hand.

Hope this helps and saves you £350!
Thank you, i will give this a try.

If you open the File menu in Sage Accounts then choose Import. When the import screen appears, press the F1 function key on your keyboard this will give the Sage Accounts on screen help on file import. In the related itmes list the Comma Separated Values gives the CSV file structures for importing Audit Trail Transactions which includes batch invoices for either ledger, bank payments and receipts and journal entries.
