Hi

I am a bit confused, have been on phone to ACCA but they confused me even more.

I have completed all AAT exams and sims apart from the MSP, H&S and WWC projects, I should have them done by the end of this week.

I have been told that would not get them back in time for the 31 DEc 05 deadline for exemptions to sit the JUN 06 exams.

What about people who are only completing tech exams this Dec and want to sit exams in JUN 06, dont they get an extension?

Basically i just want to know if it is possible to sit the first 2.1 exam in June as long as I get everything done this week?

Many thanks
G

I understand your frustration ghoban, I am fed up with ACCA too. I completed my AAT this year and sent ACCA my statement of achievement for Technician and Certificates for Foundation and Intermediate by 31 August 2005, but my MSP Unit 10 was not achieved yet, ACCA seeing that the Technician Statement did not say that the qualification was completed refused to give me any exemptions.

I applied to sit 4 papers for ACCA 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 2.1 in December, then I signed off my MSP Unit 10 therefore I called ACCA and told them that my AAT was now fully completed and that I would like the exemptions for December 2005 not June 2006, afterall why sit these exams if I am eligible for exemptions, they asked me to send them all the certificates again, so I sent the lot in to them.

They awarded me exemptions for part 1 but only for the June 2006 sitting, so if I want to sit the exams in December I would still be sitting the part one exams and one part 2 exam. I appealed the decision and have now received a refund for the four exams, but the original decision for exemptions for next year still stands, no matter that I have started ACCA already completed AAT, this will be wasting six months of my time. All these things are not important to them.

My advice to you is to complete your AAT projects as soon as possible, get them signed off by your assessor by 30 November, try to get your Certificates and Statements of Achievements from AAT and fax them with a letter to ACCA fax number 0141 582 2222 by 31 December 2005. AAT students have until 31 January normally, but if they said 31 December 2005, do it by then.

Because most colleges report results to AAT at the end of the month, it takes a couple of weeks for the results to be entered into the system at AAT they then wait until the end of the month to send you your certificate it doesn't matter if you call hundred times to both ACCA or AAT they will just record your conversation on their systems and that's the end of it, I know I have been going through this since July, after all these people are just customer service after all.

Good luck, no time to waste.

Thanks for replying, frustration is not a strong enough word!! You must be going mental...I know I would be.

I am still waiting to find a definite answer. Below are the emails that have been sent...start from the bottom.

Hi Geraldine,

We are currently trying to get something in writing from the ACCA as to the correct procedure. Apparently the procedure changes frequently, going by the feedback we have from other students, what was acceptable last term may not be now. I will keep you informed as soon as I hear anything.

Hi Rory

I just wondered if Kay replied or spoke to you directly about this?

Many thanks

Hi Geraldine,

It was the case that the AAT dept. provided the student with a letter stating that everything had been completed but were waiting for the exam results due in Feb. This was enough to allow registration but Kay will need to confirm that this is still the case.

Many thanks

Hi Rory

What about what Kay said about AAT students having till end of Feb? Is that not correct then?

Please confirm.

Many thanks

Hi Geraldine,
You need to apply by 31 December to ACCA but they know that many people are waiting for AAT exam results to come out in February, therefore they allow people to send there certificates in then.
Rory - please can you confirm this.

We need any outstanding units to be competent by 20th December for us to internally verify them and report them to AAT by mid January (AAT;s deadline for us to submitt results that will appear on February statements and the certificate issues at that time.

I cannot give you a handing in deadline as it depends if the work you hand in is competent or not - MSP usually takes at least two versions to get through.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Hi Geraldine

I received an e-mail from them this morning stating deadline for AAT students to claim exemptions for June 06 exams is 28 February.

If you need a copy of it as proof when you send off your info, I'll e-mail it to you.

Hi
I spoke to ACCA prior to becoming a student memeber with them in September 05. I was told to claim excemptions for units passed and that my result for exams sat in DEC 05 need to be with them by 28th Feb 06 for excemptions to be granted in time for the June 06 exams. You need to be registered as a student member with ACCA by 31st Dec 05 for this to apply.
