If you're talking about the technician one that we sat today, the goodwill was indefinate, and therefore, I think you shouldnt have written anything off.

You need to show competence in both sections 1 and 2. They're not expecting you to get 100%, so I think making one small mistake like that shouldnt matter?

I wouldn't worry too much about calculating goodwill incorrectly as they are looking at the processes as well as the numbers so this shouldn't have too much effect on the overall result.

However even if the goodwill is deemed long term or indefinate following accounting standards the goodwill must be w/off over 20 years, or if following international standards must be subject to an annual impairment review.

Don't worry about that mistake! You will probably lose 1 mark at the most. Even if your error carried forward into other areas of the question - they can't penalise you twice!

DFS is an extremely demanding paper - the syllabus is huge and the knowledge you have to have to do the paper is vast. These issues are taken into account during the marking process and my experience leads me to believe that they are lenient in marking the paper.

Just remember - you have to prove competence. Competence can be achieved in a number of different ways - it is not necessary to get 100% of the paper correct.

Good luck - I'm sure you'll pass.
