Would it be possible to have some kind of generic link to pm moderators? Other boards I post on have their moderators listed and when you click on the generic title "moderator" or the specific named moderator you are then able to pm that person or title.

I think this would be useful to report abusive or unnecessary posts, to get posts deleted (instead of having to edit duplicate or error or similar) and to deal with problems that do not really necessitate a thread.

Good idea TLG. Only stumbling block is we don't have a formal list of moderators on the system. I'll have a look at setting up global address that sends to all of the people at the AAT who monitor the forums. Of course you can aways PM me if needs be, but it does run the risk of me not being around.

I'll get back to you on this one - thanks for the suggestion.

The moderator idea is fine in theory but if reliance is placed on a small clique of moderators who are hell bent on deleting everything from one person they don't like is likely to be unworkable.

Also to design a set of rules and criteria for deletion may not be feasible as people can be clever to disguise their identity and paraphrase anything to get their point across.

I agree with the moderators.

The www.accountancystudents.co.uk has moderators for each forums who perform other tasks than just removing posts. moderators/Julian/Administrator are not just there to delete posts.

For example, if a student has a query about, say, preparing a profit and loss account which a student/member has subsequently answered - then this could be relevant to both FRA and DFS papers (intermediate and technician). By having moderators on the forums the technician moderator could be responsible for moving the post over to the intermediate forum as the same query may be relevant to FRA.

It isn't generally unworkable as it is very successful on those forums which BlueWednesday will agree with me on as she is a moderator on those forums.
