Distance learning tuition

Distance learning, which is sometimes called open learning, home study and correspondence courses can be a more flexible learning method for students as the pace of study can be set by the individual and there is less travel time involved. The method of delivering distance learning tuition differs from centre to centre and so it is recommended that you contact them to discuss the precise way that they can offer this study method.

The AAT Accounting Qualification consists of units that are assessed in two ways. The skills test elements are assessed either by work place assessment, by simulation/college based assessment, or by assessment of prior achievements. The exam elements are assessed twice yearly; in June & December.

When undertaking a skills test assessment you will be required to sit the assessment in a controlled environment. This may involve the assessors visiting you in your work place, or you may need to either visit the assessment centre to sit the test in a supervised environment or make arrangements to sit such assessments in a controlled environment at work. The assessment centre that you enrol with will advise you of how they would like you to be assessed for the skills tests.

When you are sent an exam entry form you will be provided with a list of colleges that will accept students who are not necessarily their own for the purpose of examination. This means that if your distance learning provider is not geographically close to where you live you can select a college nearby and sit your exams at that centre.
