Working Together
Enabling accountants in public practice, tax practictioners and the Inland Revenue to work together to identify issues at a local, regional and national level.
In 2001, the AAT was invited to participate in the Inland Revenue Working Together (WT) by Richard Mannion, past President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
The purpose of WT meetings is for accountants in public practice and tax practitioners and the Inland Revenue to identify issues at a local, regional and national level in order to provide quicker and more flexible resolutions to problems. At each meeting there is usually one member in practice from each of the professional accountancy and taxation bodies and, of course, representatives from the Inland Revenue.
At the last count, the AAT was represented in 47 of the 75 Inland Revenue area offices, which is very good considering that not all the area offices have an active WT group. It varies but usually an area office will hold three or four meetings a year.
Our members in practice, who have a diverse range of clients from SMEs to private individuals, have considerable experience and much to contribute to - and gain from - Working Together meetings.
If you are interested in getting involved in WT and you are a member in practice then please contact Aleem Islan (t: 020 7397 3088, e: aleem.islan@aat.org.uk)
AAT members in practice may have seen and followed the WT articles in The Professional newsletter and this had been the main method of feeding back information and developments within WT.
This page and the following items are an additional part of the mechanism of feeding back information from WT and the Inland Revenue back to the membership.
