Taking the personal route to your CPD
You are individually responsible for ensuring your competence by following the CPD cycle at least once every 12 months, or twice if you are a member in practice.
The CPD cycle is a four-stage process in which you:
- assess your learning needs
- plan learning activities to meet any needs you identify
- put your plan into action
- evaluate whether your activities met your learning needs.

You should keep a record of your activities and the decisions you make in each phase of the CPD cycle. You should also keep relevant evidence such as course attendance certificates.
You can keep your CPD records in any format as long as provides the relevant information. Our online CPD Planner provides a simple way to manage and record your progress through the cycle.
If we write to you as part of a monitoring exercise you'll need to submit your CPD records.
