AAT student scoops prestigious award

Rachael De Bose completed all three levels of the AAT qualification in eight months and has been crowned VQ winner for London.

Rachael De Bose, Office Manager at construction company - QSS has won the VQ award for the region of London. Rachael won the award for her dedication and commitment to vocational study of the AAT qualification while working full time, 45 hours a week. Rachael completed all three levels of the AAT qualification in eight months and got exceptionally high marks throughout. She studied via distance learning through Premier Training - best known for its fast track method of study.

In 2011, the bookkeeper at Rachael’s company left suddenly, Rachael had no choice but to learn the bookkeeper’s job role as rapidly as possible. Rachael took it upon herself to up skill as quickly as possible in order to equip herself with the knowledge and skills needed to cover her new job requirements. Rachael had no previous financial experience and even though her employer funded her qualification, she was given no time off for study, revision or exams. Since completing her AAT qualification Rachael has decided to continue with her studying in order to gain chartered status.

Rachael will collect her award on 20 June in central London and it will be presented to her by RT Hon – Vince Cable.

Rachael commented: “I’d worked in various jobs, such as managing a restaurant, hair salon and gambling shop before taking an office management position at QSS in 2011, when the bookkeeper left, I saw it as an opportunity to learn something which would give me a chance to make a career for myself and winning this award is great recognition for all my hard work which thankfully paid off . I’m looking forward to my future and gaining chartered status – it could take me anywhere."
