AAT approves intensive apprenticeship that sees completion times more than halved
A unique initiative to offer young people a full professional apprenticeship in just 14-months has been approved by AAT
The intensive programme – delivered by newly-approved AAT training provider, the Accounting Academy Partnership – will work in partnership with established Further Education colleges to provide 16-24 year olds with real employment as well as the full AAT Accounting Qualification (at Levels 2, 3 & 4) in just 14-months, instead of the usual three years.
Now available at North Hertfordshire College, the programme – which attracts apprenticeship funding – will soon be extended to Milton Keynes, St Albans and Birmingham, followed by Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, London and Hampshire over the next 12 months.
Each cohort of 120 students will study at college for three days a week, with the other two spent learning practical accountancy skills in the workplace.
Jane Scott Paul, Chief Executive of AAT, commented: 'This intensive Apprenticeship programme provides a unique opportunity for young people to gain valuable work experience, whilst also gaining a recognised accountancy qualification with AAT – and to take their first step in a professional finance career.'
