Sonya Ashbarry FMAAT named AAT Technician of the Year

Sonya Ashbarry FMAAT – a young mother who went from AAT college student to establishing her own company – has won AAT Technician of the Year at the Accountancy Age Awards. 

Sonya came across the AAT qualification when she was looking for “something to do” at her local college. The feeling of achievement she experienced in winning her qualification spurred her on to become a qualified AAT tutor and set up her own business, Eagle Education and Training.

Judges described it as “a wonderful story. This is a true rags to riches story and she used her qualification to build up a strong business”. Another said: “Without a lot of support she has carved out her success.”
