"I would really recommend the AAT"

Bhavi Bhudia is an Assistant Management Accountant at the Southbank Centre

"I started studying for the AAT after finishing my A Levels. I wanted to go straight into the workforce and studied for the AAT Qualification part-time at evenings and weekends.

The Southbank Centre is a registered charity compromising the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Purcell Room and the Hayward Gallery and presents thousands of performances each year including classical music, contemporary dance and literature art forms.

My main duties include assisting in the production of the company's monthly management accounts, regular and ad-hoc financial reporting, assisting in the business plan, payroll analysis, budgeting and forecasting.

I have been lucky that my employer has supported me in my studies, both financially and giving me study leave.

The AAT has helped me in my work by giving me a good grounding on general accountancy concepts. With the structure of the AAT course being at a fairly steady pace, I was able to learn in a more beneficial way rather than rushing through it.

I would really recommend the AAT to anyone who is thinking about a career in accountancy. Having the qualification has given me more confidence and personally, I believe that AAT students are more equipped for the workplace than university graduates."
