The Standards
AAT qualifications are built around occupational standards, for the AAT accounting qualification these are set by the Accountancy Occupational Standards Group (AOSG), a government body. As you progress through your course and in consultation with your tutor, refer to the standards for the unit you are studying: they are the final word on what is assessable in all AAT exams and simulations. Click here for the full list of Standards. Before doing any AAT assessment you should be sure that you have a firm grasp of the relevant standards and are able to apply them flexibly in a variety of situations.
Guidance notes
The standards are the framework to our qualifications but they don't in themselves tell students and tutors everything they need to know to succeed. We therefore maintain detailed guidance notes on all units: click here. The guidance notes are written by expert consultants and, for units that are assessed by exam, by the relevant Chief Assessor. As you progress through your course, read the guidance unit by unit, in consultation with your tutor.
