The workshops will provide educational and interactive sessions on the latest payroll and pensions legislation and the recent changes relating to the apprenticeship levy and salary sacrifice changes.

They also provide an excellent opportunity for members to achieve their CPD, and discuss their CPD objectives and requirements with a member of the CIPP team.

13:15 – 13:35 - CIPP and AAT Welcome Jill Bonehill, Account Manager, CIPP

During the welcome you will learn how the AAT and the CIPP are working together to improve your benefits of membership and provide additional support on topical payroll issues and changes to legislation. You will also be provided with a brief overview of what to expect from the day.

13:35 – 14:20 - National Minimum Wage compliance – what are the pitfalls and how to avoid them - Jeni Morris, Senior Manager, People Advisory Services, National Minimum Wage Team, Ernst & Young LLP

Compliance with the NMW regulations is becoming ever more difficult. This session will highlight the issues to be aware of and how to avoid them.

14:40 – 15:25 - Demystifying the IR35 regulations - Justin Giles, IPD Employment Status and Intermediaries Policy, HMRC

The IR35 regulations continue to be a source of confusion and misunderstanding. In this session, HMRC will outline when the IR35 rules apply and how this interacts with off-payrolling working in the public sector and the likely implications for off-payroll working in the private sector once it is introduced in 2020.

15:25 – 16:10 - Legislation update - Helen Hargreaves, MSc ChFCIPPdip, Associate Director of Policy, CIPP

Helen will bring you the latest or forthcoming changes in payroll including but not limited to:

• Devolution including WRIT
• Recording hours worked on payslips
