AAT is delighted to announce its election to full membership of IFAC (International Federation of Accountants). IFAC is the global organisation for the accountancy profession dedicated to serving the public interest by strengthening the profession and contributing to the development of strong international economies.
While there are a number of IFAC members that include accounting technicians in their membership, AAT is the first accounting technician body to become a full member of IFAC. This is along with having been the first accounting technician body to become an associate back in 1988. AAT was nominated for membership by CIPFA, CIMA, ICAEW and ICAS.
Commenting on the announcement, Jane Scott Paul, Chief Executive of AAT said: “We are delighted to have become a full member of IFAC and look forward to playing our role in further contributing to IFAC’s work.
There is global recognition of the need for skilled professionals across the breadth and depth of the profession, particularly in developing economies, because of the contribution they make to sustainable economic growth and stability.
AAT has an important role to play as the work of an accounting technician very much underpins the finance function as a whole and so we welcome the opportunity to help the profession develop in this way.”
