Reduced membership and licence fees
We offer a number of ways to support our students and members financially, based on your circumstances.
Reduced membership fees
Full and fellow members (MAATs and FMAATs)
You may be eligible for a reduction on your full or fellow annual membership fee if you're:
- a fully retired MAAT or FMAAT who has stopped working permanently, but you're not an AAT life member
- a MAAT or FMAAT earning below £12,570 per year after tax from all your work (including both salaried and self-employed work)
- a MAAT or FMAAT studying a relevant accounting or finance qualification with at least 70% similar content to an AAT qualification, studied at an educational institution (such as a university or college ) or with a professional body like ACCA, AIA, CAI, CIMA, CIPFA, IATI, ICAEW, ICAS, or IFA, on a full or part-time basis. We also accept accounting and finance qualifications from other bodies that are not listed.
You can apply online for a reduced annual membership fee when completing your membership or licence renewal, or within one month of making a payment.
Applicants for full membership (MAAT)
If you're a student or affiliate member applying for MAAT status you can tell us you're eligible for a reduced annual membership fee as part of the application.
Bookkeeping members (AATQBs)
AAT bookkeeping members are not eligible for a reduced annual membership fee.
Life members
Full and fellow members who are also life members are not eligible for a reduced annual membership fee.
Reduced licence fees
AAT Licensed Accountants
You may be eligible for a reduction on your annual licence fee if you're earning less than £12,570 (or local currency equivalent) per year after tax from all your work, including both salaried and self-employed work.
You can apply online for a reduced annual licence fee when completing your licence renewal, or within one month of making a payment.
Applicants to be an AAT Licensed Accountant
You can apply online for a reduced annual licence fee when completing your application to be an AAT Licensed Accountant, or within one month of making a payment.
AAT Licensed Bookkeepers
AAT Licensed Bookkeepers are not eligible for a reduced annual licence fee.
