AAT to bring practical finance training to thousands of civil servants across the UK
8 January 2026

The partnership makes AAT’s short courses – including AAT Business Finance Basics and AAT Essentials – directly available to civil servants across all government departments via the civil service-learning portal, known as the Government Campus.
The new listing means that both finance specialists and non-finance colleagues can quickly build or refresh core financial knowledge.
The partnership will directly support the government’s goal to increase financial capability, transparency, and value for taxpayers' money by building essential financial skills among civil servants responsible for overseeing and delivering publicly funded programmes, promoting greater efficiency in the use of public resources.
The courses are designed to be accessible to learners of all backgrounds and experience levels, using clear explanations and real-world public and private sector examples.
Chantel Carpenter, Commercial Director at AAT, commented:
“Strong financial and business skills are essential for any organisation. They give people the confidence and insight to understand how decisions impact outcomes and ultimately improve performance. At AAT, we’re committed to helping organisations build capability through practical, real-world training that makes a difference from day one. We’re delighted to bring this approach to the Civil Service, supporting its ambition to upskill teams and drive accountability across government.”
The partnership supports AAT’s ongoing efforts to upskill workers across the UK with financial literacy and business know-how and follows the most recently announced partnership with the Nuclear Institute to provide financial training for it’s members. AAT also became the first accountancy professional body to join the South Yorkshire Skills Bank, addressing regional skills shortages.
AAT’s short courses are now live and bookable through the Civil Service-Learning platform at civil-service-learning.civilservice.gov.uk.
