AAT (the Association of Accounting Technicians) has announced a new partnership with business funding platform Swoop, designed to help accountants and bookkeepers better support business clients with funding and cash flow decisions.

New analysis from Swoop shows that businesses supported by an advisor are 2.62 times more likely to secure funding than those applying on their own, underlining the value of early professional involvement when businesses face cash flow pressure or seek finance for growth.

Beyond funding execution, the data also highlights the preventative role advisors play. Accountants and bookkeepers are often able to spot emerging cash flow pressure before it becomes critical, allowing funding conversations to happen earlier and reducing the need for last-minute or urgent finance.

Through the partnership, AAT’s licensed accountants and bookkeepers will gain access to Swoop’s funding platform, tools and data insights, making it easier to identify potential funding needs, introduce clients to specialist support and improve outcomes without adding complexity to their own workflows. AAT members will also receive a 20% discount on Swoop’s accountant and bookkeeper offering.

Swoop’s data also shows that advisor-led funding journeys are typically better prepared and more efficient. Businesses introduced by accountants and bookkeepers tend to engage earlier, provide clearer information and progress through the funding process with fewer delays. When professional advice is combined with specialist broking support, SMEs are more likely to reach a successful funding outcome.

Commenting on the partnership, Chantel Carpenter, Commercial Director at AAT added:

“Small business owners often pick up the phone first to their accountant or bookkeeper when cash flow tightens or they’re thinking about growing. That’s a huge amount of trust — and it means accountants and bookkeepers are in the perfect position to spot issues early and really make a difference. Through this partnership with Swoop, we’re giving our licensed members practical, straightforward tools to build on the brilliant work they already do, helping clients get the results they need with clarity and less pressure. This is why AAT licensed members are so crucial to SMEs: they bring professional expertise, trusted relationships and now enhanced funding support that helps businesses thrive and grow with confidence.”

Andrea Reynolds, CEO of Swoop, commented:Our data shows that professional advice makes a real difference to funding outcomes. Working with AAT allows us to support accountants and bookkeepers as an extension of their advisory role, acting as an outsourced funding back office for their clients.”

The partnership will be supported by a programme of joint activity, including CPD-accredited webinars, data-led insight reports and practical resources to help AAT members strengthen their advisory role and better support SME clients.

The partnership will go live in March 2026 and will initially be available to AAT’s licensed members. Licensed Members will be able to book a demo with the Swoop platform.
